Five distinct asset classes, unified by a commitment to quality design and community impact.
A curated portfolio of residential and commercial developments, each shaped by place, purpose, and people.
RHS Interests was founded on a simple belief: that great real estate development is an act of community building. Every project we undertake is guided by that principle.
RHS Interests, LLC develops, owns, and operates mixed-use residential, hospitality, and retail properties in Houston and Austin, Texas — with 35 years of experience spanning projects across the U.S. and Europe.
We create places that fit their neighborhoods: thoughtfully designed apartments, grocery-anchored and specialty retail, adaptive reuse, and preservation of meaningful spaces. We invest in locally owned businesses, place local artists' work throughout our properties, and believe both build community and lasting asset value.
Our focus is simple: the things people need that can't be done online — eating, sleeping, watching live music, healthcare, wellness, and the experience of living life among others.
As a boutique commercial real estate development company, we bring an owner's perspective to every project. Our scale allows us to be deliberate, attentive, and deeply invested in the outcomes of our work.
We operate across multiple asset classes — from multi-family residential and grocery-anchored retail to hotels and mixed-use transit-oriented developments — with the same standard of design intention applied to each.
Our work ranges from retrofitting and adaptive reuse of existing structures to comprehensive neighborhood planning and ground-up development.
What journalists, critics, and community leaders are saying about RHS Interests and the neighborhoods we build.
"Today, Schultz's two blocks are collectively known as The Island, a burgeoning oasis of Bayou City cool, a redevelopment effort that somehow avoided becoming something uninteresting, which sadly seems to be the norm these days, on Main and elsewhere. Instead, it's beginning to seem like Schultz has sown the seeds of a South Congress in Austin or a Magazine Street in New Orleans — of a district that defines a city."Read Article →
"The loft building's lobby doubles as an art gallery and has a tribute corner devoted to the Continental Club featuring photographs by Jay Lee, whose work also hangs in the management offices. Schultz and his wife, Lane, often end up buying work and display it, along with other art from their personal collection, in the building. Lane Schultz also helped incubate the non-profit Main Street Projects, a collaborative of young artists whose work often appears in the street-level windows."Read Article →
